Yujing Zhang: winner of the NVVT Grant 2016

 

 

Yujing Zhang has become the winner of the NVVT Grant to participate in the ETCC congress in Birmingham May 25-26, 2016. His contribution: ‘LED-Cured self-replenishing hydrophobic coatings based on interpenetrating polymer networks’ has been selected out of the submitted abstracts by the NVVT selection committee. Yujing is a PhD student in the group of Dr. Catarina Esteves (ass Prof)  and Prof. Bert de With at the laboratory of Physical Chemistry, Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands. The investigation is a joint activity between TU Eindhoven and the Laboratory of Macromolecular Photochemistry and Engineering, University of Haute Alsac, ENSCMu, France and is subsidized by DPI.

 

In general the selection committee was very pleased with the overall quality of the submitted abstracts and the research approaches behind the different topics.

 

 

The grant

 

The FATIPEC board wishes to stimulate the participation of young scientists from the whole of Europe. To this purpose it has been decided to sponsor the participation of one young scientist per country. The grant will cover: congress fee, travel costs and the costs of hotel and food. In return the applicant is asked to present a poster or a paper during the congress.

 

Next to that the ETCC congress committee has been decided that there will be an award for the best performing / most attractive young scientist contributions during the congress. The award will be a price of Euro 1000.

 

 

Selection process and criteria

 

The selection process for this grant in the Netherlands has been executed under the responsibility of the board of the NVVT. To this purpose a selection committee had been installed consisting of 3 board members and headed by the Dutch representative of the FATIPEC European Scientific Committee (ESC).
The selection committee has ranked the submitted abstracts according to the following selection criteria:

 

·         originality of the subject (20%)

 

·         level of scientific excellence (30%)

 

·         creativity of the approach and (30%)

 

·         relevance for the coatings industry (20%)
